Jodee Storm Sullivan is a junior studying Broadcast and Digital Journalism and minoring in Narrative Structure and Pre-Law at the University of Southern California. She is originally from Yorba Linda, California. She grew up a fan of the Trojans, and knew that USC was the school for her when she was accepted.
She originally did not come to USC to study journalism. At first, she was a History major and a Pre-Med minor. During her first week at USC, she stumbled into the Media Center at the suggestion of a friend from home who was a senior in Annenberg at the time. She wandered into the Media Center on the day of their Open House her first semester freshman year. She wandered towards the back and found the Sports Pod. After talking with a few people back there, she ended up signing up for Neon Tommy and ATVN Sports. By the weekend she was writing her first article on the possibility of a Freeway Series World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. By the next week she was reporting for ATVN Sports. From that point on, she discovered her passion for journalism and knew that she had to change majors.
Jodee wants to be a journalist because she has always loved telling stories. She sees that with journalism she can tell athletes' stories in ways that humanize them outside of their sport. Her passion for writing and creating also draw her to journalism. The cooperative effort that comes from working in a newsroom reminds Jodee of what it is like playing sports and teamwork is something she strives off of.
Last fall, Jodee was the Monday night sports anchor for ATVN. Working on live TV gave her such a thrill. She even created her own segment called "Storm's Spotlight" where she would spotlight a USC player from the previous week of games.
Today, two years after that day she stumbled into the Media Center, she is the Sports Director of ATVN. As Sports Director, she is in charge of facilitating all of the broadcast content that comes out of the Media Center. She coordinates with the sports anchors and reporters to make sure that ATVN Sports is producing the best content possible.
Jodee has also been writing for the Daily Trojan since her first semester at USC. This fall, she will be covering her third season with the USC Women's Volleyball team, arguably her favorite team on campus. She enjoys the freedom and knowledge that come with being a beat writer. Also this fall, she started writing a column for the paper called "The Storm Report." So far, she has written two articles on the USC Football but hopes to expand her column topics as the semester progresses.
When Jodee is not at the Media Center, she serves as the Vice President of Athletics on USC's Panhellenic Council. She loves working with the other 13 Greek women on the council to better serve the Panhellenic community as a whole. She is thankful for all of the great friendships she has made with the women on the council. Jodee is also involved in Club Softball at USC. She pitches, plays first and outfield for the team. She played softball all through her life and enjoys playing it at the club level with her friends against other top universities in California and Arizona.
When she is not at USC, she is almost always at Disneyland. Growing up only 20 minutes away, her love for Disneyland started at a young age. Her dad used to joke that he would count how many times she would visit Disneyland with her nanny as a child. He stopped counting at 175 when Jodee was only three years old. She definitely went a lot back then. She still tries to go as often as she can even while at school. She tries to plan as many trips as possible with either friends from school or friends from home.
Jodee has spent her last two summers working as a camp counselor at her church's summer camp called Us In The Son. The camp is near and dear to her heart as she has been going since she was a camper at seven years old. As Jodee Green, she worked with seven year olds and absolutely loved it. She thinks that seven is the best age. Nothing brings her as bright and big a smile as working with her campers.
